Lava rock should be considered fire grade in order to be safe for a fire pit. The black lava rock sold by Montana Fire Pits is fire grade and safe for burning in a fire pit or table. In some very rare occasions, if the rock becomes very wet and you turn the fire on high, lava rock may pop out of the fire due to steam pockets. Please burn on low until the rock is dry, or cover your fire pit burn area when not in use.
